February 1, 2022

On Tuesday February 1st at 1:13pm the box alarm was dispatched for a reported house fire in the 1400blk of Crestmont Dr in West Bradford Twp. Companies on the initial dispatch were West Bradford, Thorndale, Minquas, East Brandywine and First West Chester for the RIT.

As companies were responding a large column of smoke could be seen from at least two miles out. Chief 39 had the column visible from Downingtown and immediately requested the 1st alarm tanker task force due to no hydrants in the immediate area of this residence.

Lt. 38B arrived on location first with a 1 story single family dwelling with heavy fire on the "A" side of the dwelling. Engine 38 arrived and went up the driveway and deployed an 1 3/4 handline while Engine 39-1 arrived and dropped a supply line at the end of the driveway and pulled up next to 38 and prepared to give them their water. Tanker 39 arrived next and also took the driveway and hand-jacked a supply line to Engine 38.

Engine 46-1 arrived next and reverse laid a 5 inch line from the bottom of the driveway to the intersection with Shadyside. This was where the tankers were to arrive and supply their water to the scene. A fill site was set up at Shadyside and Glenside.

Engine 49-2 arrived and crews assisted both on the exterior with throwing ladders as well as interior with two handlines that were pulled off Engine 38.

The fire was placed under control at 2:35pm with extensive overhaul needed.

A total of 13 companies responded to this incident. Companies on scene were West Bradford, Thorndale, Minquas, East Brandywine, First West Chester, Po-Mar-Lin, Lionville, Goodwill, Kennett, Modena, Longwood, VA Hospital Coatesville and West Whiteland.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
