Last evening proved to be a case of being in the right place at the right time.
While enroute to the Fire Training Center for live burn fire training, Ladder 49 personnel came across an unresponsive person at 8th and Main St. in the City of Coatesville. The crew stopped and provided immediate emergency medical care to the patient.
Upon leaving, while at 3rd and Main St. Ladder 49’s personnel then observed a house fire in the vicinity of Oak St. Ladder 49 responded and while enroute was made aware the location of the call was Colina Lane. Upon arrival the crew encountered a working house fire. In addition to assuming first due Truck responsibilities, personnel from Ladder 49 advanced hose lines into the building to quickly contain the fire.
Coincidentally this fire coincided with Coatesville’s Battalion Chief Craig Patton’s final shift after 28 years. Our Team was happy to work with the Chief and had the opportunity to wish him well as he enters retirement.
While Ladder 49 operated at the house fire, personnel from Engines 49-2 and 49-5 went the Fire Training Center and participated in live burn training.
In total the Company had 31 volunteers present, thirteen participated in the house fire response, while the remaining eighteen trained. |
