On Sunday morning at 4:32am, Downingtown Fire Company along with mutual aid companies including East Brandywine were dispatched to the 100 block of E Lancaster Ave for an apartment fire. Initial reports were of the fire alarms going off in the building with smoke inside.
Downingtown Police arrived within minutes and confirmed smoke showing from the building. Downingtown Fire units arrived a short time later and confirmed a working fire in the building. EBFC Ladder and Engine 49-2 arrived a short time later as the RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) but their assignment was quickly changed to fire attack. Crews from EBFC were split and one team stretched an 1 3/4 line up the rear of the building into the fire apartment while another crew began searches of the apartments for possible trapped occupants. All searched turned up negative and crews had the fire under control quickly. Once the fire was placed under control crews worked with the fire marshals and performed overhaul of the fire apartment.
Ladder 49, Engine 49-2, Rescue 49, Engine 49-5 and Utility 49 all made the response. |
