EBFC Assists on Large Barn Fire in East Fallowfield

By East Brandywine Fire Company
September 27, 2025

On Saturday, September 27th at 8:53 PM, the Modena Fire Company along with multiple mutual aid departments were dispatched to the 3300 block of Doe Run Church Road in East Fallowfield Township for a reported horse barn on fire.

First-arriving crews found a 200x100 horse barn fully involved with reports of horses still inside. A working fire dispatch was immediately requested, which brought East Brandywine Fire Company units to the scene. Ladder 49 and Utility 49 responded with 11 personnel.

Because this area does not have fire hydrants, a tanker task force was also alerted to supply water. Given the heavy volume of fire on arrival, the incident was quickly declared an exterior operations only fire for firefighter safety.

Throughout the incident, approximately 57,000 gallons of water were used to bring the fire under control. The fire was officially placed under control at 11:41 PM.

At this time, we are told that 11 horses have been accounted for. It remains unknown if any were still inside the barn at the time of the fire.

I worked and practically lived in this barn for 19 years. Thank you for trying to save it, but it must have been so impossibly engaged in fire to do so. Thank you to those who got those loose horses to safety. Your bravery and dedication is astounding.
