| On Friday afternoon shortly at 4pm EBFC units were dispatched to the 3700blk of Hazelwood Ave in Caln Township for a report of a house fire. Initial reports indicated smoke in the attic after an earlier chimney fire.
Chief and Engine 38 arrived with nothing showing from the exterior. Engine 38's crew after investigation found fire in the roof area of the attic. Engine 76 arrived and reverse laid a supply line from Engine 38 to the hydrant. Engine 49-5 arrived shortly after along with Tower 45 who set up on the front lawn. The crew from Engine 49-5 went to the roof and began to work on opening up around the chimney. Crews opened a small hole in the roof and also had to remove part of the cinderblock from the chimney itself. A water can was used to soak down the area and make sure that all fire was extinguished.
Assistant 49, QRS 49, Engine 49-2 and Ladder 49 all made the response as well. Engine 49-2 and Ladder 49 were recalled on arrival and the assignment was held to Engines 38, 76, 49-5 and Tower 45. EBFC crews responded with a total of 21 volunteers for this call. |
