| It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of life member Mr. Robert A. Zynn Sr..
Mr. Zynn the father of Assistant Chief Bobby Zynn, died Friday evening at Hickory House Nursing Home surrounded by his family and friends.
Mr. Zynn was the youngest member to join the fire company when it was founded in 1955. He was 16 years old when the founding members gathered at the site of what is currently Gary's Auto Body to discuss establishing a fire company.
Mr. Zynn was a talented carpenter and built homes for Springton Manor Construction.
Prior to getting into carpentry Mr. Zynn actually built fire trucks while working at National Foam in West Chester PA.. According to Mr. Zynn's wife Sandy, he was passionate about his job, and loved building the emergency vehicles.
Mr. Zynn was married to his wife Sandy on August 25th, 1962. He was 21 years old and she was 19 years old. As part of their wedding, the members of the fire company made sure their transportation was on top of the hose bed of the fire truck.
In addition to being a life member of East Brandywine Fire Company, Mr. Zynn was also one of the original members of the East Brandywine Hunt Club.
Upon retiring Mr. Zynn enjoyed spending time with his wife and friends at their home in Ocean Cove, in Key Largo Florida. During the summer months however you could find Mr. Zynn at only one place, the East Brandywine Community Park. Mr. Zynn had a passion for caring for the grounds, and making sure it looked beautiful for the community.
Mr. Zynn will be sadly missed! He gentle, kind, community minded spirit touched many lives.
Mr. Zynn is survived by his loving wife Sandy. His Son, Assistant Chief Robert Zynn Jr. and his wife Kelly. His Daughter, Kimberly Jeffries and her husband Daniel. Also his granddaughters', Caitlin Thomas, and Rachel and Anna Jeffris. |
