This evening at 6:11 PM, East Brandywine Fire Company was dispatched to the unit block of Old Willows Road in West Brandywine Township for a reported house fire. Initial 9-1-1 reports indicated a fire in the basement, with occupants actively evacuating the residence.
Safety 49 arrived on scene first and reported a smoke condition in the basement. Upon investigation, the source was identified as a box fan that had caught fire. Engine 76 (Veterans Affairs Fire Department) arrived shortly after and was instructed to deploy a water can to the basement. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire and safely remove the damaged fan from the home.
Engine 49-2 and Ladder 49 arrived and assisted with ventilation to clear the remaining smoke from the residence. Fortunately, the incident resulted in only minor smoke damage, and there were no reported injuries to residents or pets.
Crews operated on scene for just over 30 minutes before returning to service. During the incident, Engine 49-2, Ladder 49, Engine 49-5, and Rescue 49 responded with a total of 22 volunteers. At the same time, QRS 49 handled an EMS call in East Brandywine Township, demonstrating the company’s continued dedication to providing comprehensive emergency response coverage to the community.
East Brandywine Fire Company extends its thanks to all mutual aid departments who responded and to the residents for their prompt evacuation, which allowed firefighters to work quickly and efficiently. |
