As a strong storm system moved through the area on Thursday evening, June 26th, East Brandywine Fire Company was dispatched as part of the mutual aid assignment to assist the Lionville Fire Company at a reported house fire in the 900 block of Jessica Terrace in Uwchlan Township.
Initial reports from 9-1-1 callers indicated flames visible from the roof, though the exact house number was initially unknown. First-arriving units from Lionville confirmed a working fire with heavy flames showing from the roof area. Multiple handlines were deployed as crews made an aggressive interior attack.
East Brandywine responded with Ladder 49, Rescue 49, and Utility 49, bringing 15 volunteers to the scene. Upon arrival, our personnel were assigned to serve as the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT), standing by for firefighter rescue operations should they be needed.
Interior crews encountered significant fire conditions on the second floor and in the attic, which had already begun to self-vent due to the intensity of the blaze. Crews worked tirelessly to contain the fire and prevent further structural loss.
At approximately 7:59 PM, the fire was brought under control. Fortunately, the residence was unoccupied at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported. |
