April 23, 2022

On Saturday evening around 5:30pm the East Brandywine Fire Company along with EMS from Westwood Fire Company were dispatched to a vehicle accident with entrapment at Manor Rd & E Reeceville Rd in West Brandywine Twp.

FM30 arrived on location within minutes and confirmed one patient trapped and also requested another EMS unit to evaluate the occupants of the other vehicle. Rescue 49 arrived a short time later and were given the order to remove the driver side doors and roof of the vehicle to gain access to the patient. Engine 49-2 and QRS 49 also made the response and on arrival assisted with extrication efforts and traffic control.

Crews utilized our Holmatro Rescue Tools and removed all four doors and the "B" post of the vehicle. Once this was done the patient was able to be extricated and was turned over to EMS for evaluation.

Extrication was completed in 16 minutes from the arrival of the Rescue. During the incident for the safety of the responders on scene Manor Rd was closed in both directions between E Reeceville & Red Oak.

Flings Towing was also on scene and removed both vehicles. West Brandywine PD was also on scene investigating the accident. Crews cleared the scene at 6:24pm and the roadway was reopened.
