On Tuesday afternoon, East Brandywine Fire Company was dispatched at 3:56 PM to the 200 block of Monacy Road in West Brandywine Township for a reported house fire. Mutual aid partners were also dispatched following initial reports of smoke visible from the rear of the home. All occupants were confirmed to have safely evacuated prior to emergency crews' arrival.
Chief 49, Safety 49, Engine 49-2, and Ladder 49 made the initial response, with Safety 49 arriving on location first. A light smoke condition was observed at the rear of the residence, prompting a request for Engine 76 to bring a water can to the rear for investigation.
Upon arrival, Engine 76 secured their own water supply from a nearby hydrant and deployed a precautionary 1 ¾” handline. Firefighters from Engine 76 and Engine 49-2 proceeded to the rear of the home and began opening up the area to locate the source of the smoke.
Additional units, including crews from Thorndale and Coatesville, arrived shortly after and assisted with interior checks. Using a thermal imaging camera, they searched for any signs of heat or smoke inside the residence. Fortunately, none were found.
The source of the smoke was determined to be an exterior light fixture that had burned up. The fire was minor, and the incident was quickly brought under control without any extension to the interior of the home.
Thanks to the rapid response and coordinated efforts of all personnel on scene, the situation was mitigated safely and efficiently. Crews began to break down and clear the scene shortly thereafter. |
