| On Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM, East Brandywine Fire Company volunteers were dispatched to the area of Creek Rd & N Reeds Rd for a reported brush fire approximately 10x50 yards along the roadside.
Engine 49-2, Engine 49-5, QRS 49, and Utilities 49-1 & 49-2 all made the response.
Upon arrival, crews found an active brush fire stretching nearly 50 yards. The booster line from Engine 49-2 was deployed, allowing firefighters to quickly knock down the flames. Additional personnel used rakes to clear debris and check for smoldering hotspots while the crew from 49-2 continued to thoroughly wet down the affected area.
East Brandywine Police Department assisted by closing the roadway to ensure the safety of all responders operating on scene.
A fallen tree, brought down by high winds, had struck a primary power line and ignited the brush. PECO was notified, and all units were available in under 30 minutes. |
