By General Member Mark Walsh
January 11, 2026

On Sunday night EBFC was dispatched to a residence in East Brandywine for a report of a gas leak inside. Initial reports indicated the gas stove had been left on for approximately 5 hours and there was now an odor of propane inside the house.

Engine 49-2, Ladder 49, Rescue 49, QRS 49 and Utility 49-1 made the response.

Upon arrival crews did have an odor in the residence but no readings on the meters. The stove was secured and the remainder of the house was checked. A stronger odor was found in the basement and crews utilitzed two positive pressure fans to clear the residence before clearing the scene and turning it over to the homeowners.
