This afternoon the East Brandywine Fire Company, along with mutual aid departments, were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Hopewell Road for a reported house fire.

Initial reports indicated an HVAC technician was working on a unit when it caught fire inside a closet in the attached garage.

• Ladder 49

• Utility 49-1
14 volunteers made the response.

Deputy 38 arrived on scene first and reported a 2-story single-family dwelling with nothing showing from the exterior. Engine 49-2, Ladder 49, and QRS arrived moments later. Crews quickly stretched a 1¾” handline to the garage door while Ladder 49 set up and placed the aerial to the roof as a precaution.

Engine 38 arrived as the second-due engine and stood by to assist.

After investigation, Engine 49-2 (Chief 49) confirmed the fire was extinguished and held the assignment to Station 49 and Engine 38, clearing the remaining units.
