By East Brandywine Fire Company
April 29, 2026

On Wednesday afternoon at 4:39 PM, the East Brandywine Fire Company, along with mutual aid companies, were dispatched to the area of Horseshoe Pike and Pinebrooke Circle for a reported house fire. The Chester County 911 Center was receiving multiple calls reporting smoke in the area with flames visible from a structure.

Deputy 49 responded and was advised that East Brandywine Police were on location confirming a working fire. Engine 49-2, staffed with 4 personnel, arrived within 4 minutes of dispatch. Crews dropped a supply line at the end of the driveway, advanced to the scene, and stretched a 1 3/4” handline, placing it in service on the A side of the structure.

Deputy 49 arrived, assumed command, and confirmed a barn fully involved. Engine 49-2’s crew initiated a brief interior attack but were pulled out due to heavy fire conditions on the second floor.

Engine 49-5 arrived, picked up Engine 49-2’s supply line, and completed the lay up Route 322 to the hydrant at Clearview. They began supplying the scene with tank water while establishing a hydrant connection. Once a positive water supply was secured, Engine 49-2 placed the deck gun in service, along with the initial 1 3/4” handline out front and a 400’ 1 3/4” handline that was taken to the rear, achieving a knock on the second-floor fire.

Following initial knockdown, crews re-entered the structure to continue fire suppression operations on the second floor. Ladder 6 arrived and set up on the “B” side of the building while Engine 46-2 laid a secondary supply line from Pinebrooke Circle to supply the ladder. The ladder pipe was then placed in service to extinguish remaining hot spots in the second floor and roof area. Interior crews were subsequently withdrawn.

The fire was placed under control at 5:47 PM. No injuries were reported. Extensive overhaul operations continued.

In total:

700 feet of 1 3/4” handline was deployed
600 feet of 5” supply line was laid by Engine 49-2 and 49-5
Engine 46-2 supplied Ladder 6 with an additional line from a secondary hydrant

All EBFC units cleared the scene at 8:29 PM.

East Brandywine Fire Company responded with 28 volunteers operating:

Engine 49-2
Engine 49-5
Ladder 49
Rescue 49
Utility 49-1 & 49-2
QRS 49

We would like to thank our mutual aid partners for their assistance on scene, as well as Po-Mar-Lin Squad 36 for providing local coverage during the incident. A special thank you to East and West Brandywine Police and Fire Police for assisting with the closure of Route 322.

The Chester County Fire Marshals are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
