The accident occurred at 5:21 a.m. Saturday. Two pedestrians in the southbound lanes of route 100 were struck by a truck. By 9 a.m. while Uwchlan police were investigating the fatal incident, a fire police task force was called out to help reroute traffic on Pottstown Pike. (A fire police task force consists of personnel from five fire companies and includes at least three traffic units.) Traffic 49 and special fire police officers responded and funneled southbound traffic down to one lane and across the intersection to the northbound lane. Uwchlan police and the Chester County Serious Crash Assistance Team completed their investigation around 1 p.m. and fire police were able to open route 100 to a normal traffic flow.
