| On Saturday, June 9th, a dozen active members of East Brandywine Fire Company set a few hours aside and took a trip to North Brandywine Middle School to participate in several pump operation training exercises. The purpose of this training was to allow the newer driver/operators to execute the various tasks that would be required of a pump operator if responding to an emergency.
Engine 49:
Established a water supply by hooking into a hydrant with a 5" supply line
Pumped single and multiple attack lines
Operated the master stream
Supplied Ladder 49 to enable use of ladder pipe and hand lines
Ladder 49:
Deployed its 75 foot main
Setup a ladder pipe operation
Pumped a single attack line
The crews from each apparatus took turns climbing to the top of the 75 foot main,
deploying attack lines, advancing attack lines, and practicing nozzle movement.
At the end of the day, everyone had a chance to become more familiar with certain skills needed to operate on the fire ground. |
