| East Brandywine Fire Company held their annual Open House Wednesday evening October 17th.
The event could not have been more successful based on the record attendance. Over 500 children and adults participated in the evening's events.
East Brandywine Volunteers conducted a vehicle rescue and water supply demonstration. Additionally through out the night kids had the opportunity to practice using an extinguisher on a small kitchen fire.
Sparky and Freddie also held a half hour presentation covering a wide variety of fire prevention topics.
According to Deputy Chief Jim Witmer who was manning the table of fire prevention give aways, "we could not keep up with the demand".
In addition to all of the educational opportunities the night was made even more successful by providing hot dogs, soft pretzels, spiced wafers and apple cider free of charge.
The Line Officers of East Brandywine would like to thank all the Volunteers for an amazing job! Also special thanks to Eddie Ranck and Flings Towing for providing the car for the vehicle rescue demonstration. Lastly thanks to Croppers Market and Bonds Eye Care for their participation in the evening. |
