October 29, 2012

According to Scott Piersol, Township Manager and Emergency Management Coordinator for East Brandywine, the EOC is now open.

The EOC opened at 8am on 10/29/12, and a preemptive disaster declaration is in the process with the Board of Supervisors.

Businesses are being told to close their operations by 17:00 hours today to allow their employees to return home prior to the storm's anticipated arrival in this area.
The EOC would like residents to heed the following hurricane safety recommendations:
DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH FLOODED ROADS. Driving through flooded roads is one of the leading causes for fatalities during weather events

DO NOT APPROACH DOWNED TREES. With high winds and heavy rain we expect many trees to fall. These downed trees often involved electric power lines that are hidden in the foliage.

DO NOT CALL 911 IF THE POWER GOES OUT. If you have an electrical outage, please notify your Electric Company. During storms the 911 centers are often overburdened with calls that aren't necessarily an emergency.

PECO – 1-800-841-4141
PPL – 1-800-342-4141

DO NOT PLACE PORTABLE GENERATORS IN OR NEAR DWELLINGS. With extended power outage expected please be mindful of where you place your portable generator. Exhaust and fumes will result in CO poisoning if not properly ventilated.

Lastly all residents should be aware that there will be no trash collection on Tuesday, it has been postponed until next week.
